LUANDA, Angola — When a medical crisis unfolds in an unfamiliar environment, a forward surgical team may have little time to understand local health threats, assess available resources or adapt to an unfamiliar medical system before patients begin arriving.
U.S. Army Reserve medical professionals with the 915th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment confronted those challenges while training alongside Angolan Armed Forces counterparts during the Angola Medical Readiness Exercise at Hospital Militar Principal, Sept. 9.
