In field training exercise Rail Gunner Lightning, 1st Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment will fire their first rounds since reactivation in late August 2020. The 41st Field Artillery Brigade is the only U.S. long-range, precision-strike capable Multiple Launcher Rocket Systems unit in Europe. The brigade is ready and capable to deploy in support of our NATO allies and partners. When placed in the safety officer role for the Kosovo Force Regional Command-East deployment, Boyer, an Army chemical officer organic to the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oregon Army National Guard, never imagined that he would be tasked with a special project to visit abandoned and functioning factories around Kosovo and provide recommendations regarding chemical safety.

Two B-1B Lancers from the 28th Bomb Wing, Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, conducted a long-range strategic Bomber Task Force mission to the Black Sea region, 29 May, 2020.
During the mission, the two B-1s conducted training on the Long Range Anti-ship Missile (LRASM). Designed to target adversary ships, the LRASM gives the B-1 the ability to have advanced stand-off and counter-ship capabilities.

The equipment belongs to 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, deploying to Germany from Fort Stewart, Georgia.
The arrival of the ARC Endurance signifies the next major step of DEFENDER-Europe 20, the largest deployment of Soldiers from the U.S. to Europe for an exercise in more than 25 years.

General Curtis Scaparrotti, Commander, U.S. European Command, visited Finland Aug. 9-10, 2017. There, he met with senior civilian and military leaders to include: President Sauli Niinistö and Defense Minister Jussi Niinistö. The trip also included a visit to Helsinki University where he addressed the National Defence Course Association and discussed bilateral defense relations and the shared values between the U.S. and Finland.

Saber Guardian 17 strengthens multinational force to create a Strong Europe

Saber Guardian is an annual, U.S. Army Europe-led, multinational exercise, which takes place during the month of July in numerous locations across Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania, and is co-hosted by the land force components in those countries. Saber Guardian is the largest in size and scope since its inception in 2013. Though it is not a NATO exercise, hosting nations are all NATO members.

GRAFENWOEHR, Germany – Soldiers from the 10th Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division joined Soldiers from 11 NATO countries and one Partner for Peace country for an International Bridge Assessment Course at Ingolstadt, Germany July 11.
During the two-week forward training deployment (FTD), the 37th Airlift Squadron are conducting tactical flight training which include low-level flights, airdrop training with partnered forces and other related training events. The evolutions help preserve joint readiness, build interoperability and strengthen relationships with our NATO allies.

The European Reassurance Initiative (ERI), part of the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015, signed by President Obama on December 19, 2014, included $985 million in ERI funds.
